I have a super nice 1978 VW Super Beetle Convertible for sale with 88K original miles. It has been a California car since new. The interior is totally factory and immaculate. Only the radio has been changed out with an in dash CD player.
Carpets, headliner, door panels and dash are incredibly nice. All of the seats are in really nice shape and very pliable except there is a tear in the drivers seat that will eventually require the cover to be replaced.
Everything in the car works exactly as it should including the clock, electronic rear window defogger, heater fan, blinkers (even the automatic shut-off), horn, gauges, wipers, lights, etc. The steering wheel was covered since the car was new. I just took the cover off and the steering wheel is perfect with no cracks at all. It has a cool console/drink holder installed that was probably a dealer add-on. The dash is original and has no cracks!
The trunk is immaculate. Even the factory cardboard inserts are all in place as well as the original spare tire. The top and headliner are immaculate and it even has the factory boot cover which looks to have never been used.
The undercarriage, side rails, floors/pans are 100% rock-solid with no repairs and no rot anywhere whatsoever. (See the pictures). Definitely a rarity in a bug this age!
The fuel-injected engine starts and runs exactly as it should with that great VW sound. The steering, brakes and suspension are tight and the car shifts through the gears great. It just passed the strict California smog inspection.
The exterior looks very presentable and I believe the paint is also factory original. It has had a little touch up paint here and there but has a great shine and really looks nice. It used to have pinstripes but they were removed. You can see an outline of where they were if you get a few inches away and look closely. Even the side windows are aligned. The only thing I replaced were the running boards as the originals were dry and cracked.
I spend a lot of time buying and selling vintage VW's and I especially enjoy driving the Super Beetles of the late 70's. This is the most original, unmolested, well preserved one that I have ever come across. I'm tempted to keep it but my job is to find it a new home where it will be loved and cared for the next 30 years!
There are in excess of 200 photos in the slideshow area in addition to the first 45 on this page. There are also videos below so you can walkaround the car, watch and hear it run and even take a virtual test drive through the wine country! My name is Donn. You can reach me by cell. The car may be seen here in Sonoma. Also, I have excellent shipping contacts and can get great discounts on shipping anywhere in the world.
